The IT Skeptic asked a while ago about which books folk use most. I looked at my ITIL books and I can see I'm using ITIL V3 Service Transition and Service Operation most, based on the highly scientific metric of page markers and dog-ears. |

As a consultant (and as a commentator) I find I seldom refer to the red and blue books any more (V2 Service Support and Service Delivery). Which is not to say that I am recommending V3 to clients. I still think V3 is a big bite for an organistion that hasn't already ingested the red and blue processes. V3 has a lot to offer beginners, especially Event, Request, ELS, Test... but I'm inclined to think V2 makes a good starter step. I'm ambivalent about this though: what do readers think? |

I'm curious that I don't use Service Design more. Might be to do with where we are at with my current clients - all remedial and "Service Support" centred - but more likely the Peas Book and the Flower Book are indeed the most generally practical and useful.
